Material: N.Carolina Green Slate Price: $25 Location: Piedmont, NC Size: 8L x 5W x 3.8 thick Description: The etching is of a twinned calcite crystal. The picture is made by scratching the surface of the slate to different depths and/or closeness to get lighter colors. I did this piece in 1989 and had it packed away until now. The material is called green slate, but it is really a low silica argillite. For more information about the material see the links page for the link to the quarry in North Carolina.
